Cardi B has made a wild claim that 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual assault between people of the same 𝓈ℯ𝓍 can turn people gay.
Speaking on Instagram Live, Cardi offered her controversial thoughts on homo𝓈ℯ𝓍uality after watching the Netflix drama-thriller Baby Reindeer.
“I watched this show Baby Reindeer on Netflix and I haven’t been able to finish watching it because around the fourth or fifth episode it kind of traumatized me a little bit and it freaked me out,” she said.
Cardi then described a scene from the show that depicts same-𝓈ℯ𝓍 rape and added: “It’s so important for us to know certain male perspectives about these types of things because women go through a lot of 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual assault, but we don’t really get to hear or see what other men go through when they experience 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual assault.
“I believe there’s some men that are 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 gay. I have a cousin that I just knew since he was two years old he was gay. And there’s men that get 𝓈ℯ𝓍ually assaulted then they find out they are gay. People are always going to be judgmental, people are always going to not accept them. Sometimes people don’t even know their story or how they got there.”
She continued: “Not everybody is 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 gay. You see in that episode, the guy, he was straight. And he got raped and he started going through these emotions of identity. He started having crazy 𝓈ℯ𝓍 with women, he started having crazy 𝓈ℯ𝓍 with men. He just wanted to identify what he likes, all because he got 𝓈ℯ𝓍ually assaulted.”
Cardi B has previously been a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ community. In 2022, she criticized homophobes by writing on X (then Twitter): “Every bad bitch have a gay best friend cousin…if you homophobic you just ugly.”
The Bronx native identifies as bi𝓈ℯ𝓍ual herself, which she reiterated following the backlash to her and Normani’s racy “Wild Side” video which was accused of “queerbaiting.”
Responding to a Rolling Stone article about the controversy, she tweeted: “Uuummmm @RollingStone queer baiting? You do know we was trying to hide a whole 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 bump right?
“Also I’m married to a man but I have express soo much about my bi𝓈ℯ𝓍uality and my experiences wit girls. All of a sudden ‘queer baiting’ is the new word & people use it to the ground!”
She has also admitted to having “confused feelings” when it comes to her 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual orientation growing up and once bragged about performing oral 𝓈ℯ𝓍 on other women.
