Stephen A. Smith praises Warriors’ Stephen Curry as “godlike” in the midst of a call for revamp roster

Warriors’ Stephen Curry gets ‘god-like’ praise from Stephen A Smith amid plea to revamp roster

There isn’t much time left for the Golden State Warriors to maximize their championship window with Stephen Curry. A bunch of factors led to their early collapse in the NBA Playoffs these past two seasons. A big part of that is Klay Thompson’s steady decline and Draymond Green’s constant absence. While guys like Jonathan Kuminga, Trayce Jackson-Davis, and Brandin Podziemski show promise, Joe Lacob still needs to make win-now moves. Even Stephen A Smith acknowledges this season for Steve Kerr’s squad.

Stephen A Smith’s plea to Joe Lacob

The Warriors system under Steve Kerr can only work so well if they have the personnel. This past season to the NBA Playoffs, it looked like they had the schemes executed to the tee but it wasn’t just the right people in the squad. Stephen Curry was not getting much help on offense while he also got hunted down on defense for easy baskets. The Warriors star is famished and everyone around him can see, even Stephen A Smith. The renowned analyst himself made a plea to Joe Lacob and hailed the star as a deity, via 95.7 The Game.

“The Warriors owe Steph Curry whatever the hell Steph Curry wants. I’m a Christian and I don’t compare any man to God, but that man Steph Curry is the closest thing to a God-like figure that you have in that area. Please make no mistake about it. Too invaluable. Too untouchable. And oh by the way, still a star. That man needs more talent, go get him more talent. That man needs a better roster, go get him a better roster. He needs Steve Kerr re-used for years to come, you do that too.” he said.

Stephen A Smith even posits that there’s no other star that the Warriors could get that would equal the talent and intangibles of Curry.

“You give Steph Curry whatever the hell he needs to keep him, as a team, relevant in the championship equation. He deserves no less. He’s still a SUPERSTAR in this league. The brother is the epitome of perfection when it comes to a professional athlete… It doesn’t get any better than Steph Curry. You give him what the hell he needs,” he concluded.

There is still a lot of gas left in the tank for Steve Kerr’s superstar. They just saw him play 74 games in the regular season while seeing the court 32 minutes per night. But, this might not be too sustainable. Yes, he is averaging 25.7 points on a 45% clip while also dropping five assists. However, even he recognizes that there should be some tweaks.

“When you lose, you have to look yourself in the mirror and say ‘What can we do to get better? What holes can we fill?’ Thankfully we have some time to figure that out, so a lot of conversations upstairs, with coach Kerr to try to figure out how to get back to the level we expect,” he said.

Curry and the Warriors don’t have much time as the Western Conference only gets more talented. Will he get one more ring over LeBron James when it’s all said and done?
