Mbappe is about to sue PSG for missing salary and bonuses

According to L’Equipe, Kylian Mbappe is planning to take PSG to court because he was refused to pay his salary and bonuses of up to 80 million euros.

In October 2023, the French striker informed PSG that he would not sign a new contract so he could leave on a free transfer. Accordingly, Mbappe has faced the risk of reserve status throughout the 2023/24 season. When he returned to play, Mbappe agreed to refuse to accept a “loyalty fee” of 80 million euros

By February 2024, PSG still paid the full “loyalty fee” of 80 million euros to Mbappe. President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and his colleagues hope that Real Madrid will return the exact amount of 80 million euros to PSG, to sign a contract with the 26-year-old striker in the summer of 2024. However, President Florentino Perez affirmed Real Madrid will not pay any money to PSG, because Mbappe’s contract will expire in June 2024.

According to L’Equipe, Al-Khelaifi expressed dissatisfaction with Real Madrid’s decision. Previously, Al-Khelaifi also had a feud with Florentino Perez from when Real Madrid wanted to sign Neymar in 2021 until the European Super League project.

To “retaliate” against Real Madrid, PSG intentionally did not pay Mbappe’s April 2024 salary and bonus. The total salary and bonus that PSG owes Mbappe is 80 million euros, equal to the “loyalty fee” previously paid.

Over the past several days, Mbappe’s lawyer has demanded that PSG pay 80 million euros in unpaid wages and bonuses. On the other hand, PSG’s lawyer wrote a written agreement regarding Mbappe’s refusal to accept loyalty fees in the summer of 2023.

Mbappe’s contract with PSG will expire on June 30. The next destination in the French striker’s career is likely to be Real Madrid. In PSG colors, Mbappe appeared in 308 matches, scored 256 goals and 108 assists. Besides, he also won 6 Ligue 1 championships, 4 French National Cups, 2 French League Cups and 2 French Super Cups.
