Sony Pictures has dropped a new trailer for Tom Hardy’s latest flick, Venom : The Last Dance.
He has been playing the Marvel superhero he has been playing for the past six years. In the first trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, the actor portrays journalist Eddie Broc in the movie that is billed as the final installment in Hardy’s trilogy.
Hardy has been involved with the Venom franchise directly, earning a story credit for The Last Dance and the previous Venom installment, Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). The latest installment, which opens on October 25th, will see Kelly Marcel, his frequent writing partner, take over the director’s chair.
The synopsis for Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.
Venom : The Last Dance follows Venom (2018), which became a worldwide success at the box office, earning $856.1 million globally. Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) was followed by Hardy, who topped $506.8 million at the box office, a solid achievement given the pandemic time.
Sony has been pleasantly surprised by the franchise’s success as it works to develop a cinematic universe that incorporates ancillary Spider-Man characters that it has film rights to. Despite Hardy’s films bringing in significantly more than Morbius (2022) and Madame Web (2023), the franchise will still be in demand after several years of big-budget superhero movies struggling at the box office.
