The 3-acre property includes a main mansion, a guest house, and a two-story gym
A St. Louis estate with a rare indoor pool thatās listed for $4.49 million will hit the virtual auction block next week.
Built-in 1965, the 3.01-acre property located in Ladue, a suburb about 13 miles west of St. Louis, will be up for auction online beginning Monday with a starting bid of $1.5 million, according to Interluxe, which is handling the sale.
The home, which has been on and off the market since 2020, when it was asking $5.75 million, is among the priciest houses for sale in greater St. Louisāthere are only four listings on the market asking more.
The sellersāJackie Saleeby, and her husband, Raymond Saleeby, the president of investment firm Saleeby & Associatesāare moving from the home after 23 years as they donāt need the large space now that they are empty-nesters.
āI am ready to move on and pass it on to the next family who will enjoy it as much as we did,ā Jackie Saleeby said.
The Saleebys went the auction route in hopes of expanding their pool of buyers.
āWe wanted a larger reach beyond the metropolitan area of St. Louis,ā Jackie said.
The six-bedroom propertyāwith eight full bathrooms and five partial bathroomsāhas multiple luxury amenities, such as a two-story gym, an illuminated sports court, a guest house, and the indoor poolāwhich has been a highlight for Jackie, she said.
āThe most fun times we had were swimming when it was snowing outside,ā she said.
The main home has a grand entry, with checkerboard floors, a glass chandelier, and a simple centerpiece in the middle of the room. The house is full of rich details, from exposed brick and opulent light fixtures to statement wallpaper.
Jackie said that the breakfast room was her favorite room in the main home. It includes floor-to-ceiling windows, a glass table that sits 12, one of the homeās many chandeliers, and a silver tin ceiling.
āIt has a lot of light, is very cozy, and is the heart of the home,ā she said. āWe had a lot of great family get-togethers at this table, it is a great entertaining room.ā
Elsewhere, a sunroom with sliding glass doors opens up the many main living spaces to the grounds, creating an indoor-outdoor entertainment space, according to information from Interluxe.
The primary bedroom has an attached lounge area, three walk-in closets, a spiral staircase to a private office, and two en-suite bathrooms.
The lower level of the main house holds an entertaining room including a bar, a rainbow of stone floors, and textured silver wallpaper with lots of space to host large parties.
A guest house, added in 2008, spans an additional 3,197 square feet with its own family room and kitchen.
With all of these amenities, Jackie said the property has been an entertainment mecca.
āThere were always things for my boys and their friends to do between the sports court, pool, playroom, etc,ā she said.
