Keanu Reeves and Ryan Gosling have the same dream hero to play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Avengers: Secret Wars could be the movie to allow both of them to play the character at the same time. Reeves and Gosling are two of the most popular actors currently in Hollywood. Both have shown impeccable comedic timing, and they have what it takes both in dramatic range and in terms of experience with action sequences to play major characters in one of the projects on the MCU’s slate for the next few years.
The MCU has grown exponentially since it began with Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark building his first Iron Man armor with a box of scraps. After the end of the Infinity Saga, the MCU expanded with the arrival of Disney+. The streaming service allowed Marvel Studios to play and experiment with different formats. With a huge influx of projects during the Multiverse Saga, Marvel has introduced several new characters to the MCU in a very short span. While at a slower pace, the MCU will continue to debut major characters, and Gosling & Reeves could play one of them.
Ryan Gosling and Keanu Reeves have revealed their dream Marvel role — and it’s the same — making one exciting future MCU hero a coveted role.
Avengers: Secret Wars Could Make It Happe
Avengers: Secret Wars will, at the same time, be a movie that connects to multiple MCU projects and one that is singular in what it does. Like Avengers: Endgame, Secret Wars will also be responsible for ending a saga in the MCU, this time the Multiverse Saga. As such, the film will be the culmination of projects from the MCU’s Phases 4-6. Many of those have been controversial for a variety of reasons, so Avengers: Secret Wars will have to play to the Multiverse Saga’s strengths to seep through the noise and exceed the audience’s high expectations.
A new MCU theory explains how Keanu Reeves and Ryan Gosling could both play their shared dream Marvel role, Ghost Rider, in Avengers: Secret Wars. A new report revealed that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will feature over 60 returning MCU characters. According to the MCU theory, the next Avengers movie would focus on the existing Marvel characters in the MCU, while Avengers: Secret Wars would be the movie to really use the multiverse and go all in on bringing back actors from non-MCU Marvel movies, becoming the most ambitious superhero movie in history.
Avengers: Secret Wars would then play to the Multiverse Saga’s strength of fan-favorite actors from non-MCU Marvel movies playing multiverse variants of their characters. Rumors have emerged about Ryan Gosling being cast in the MCU and Keanu Reeves having talks with Marvel for a role. As both want to play Ghost Rider, the duo could appear as variants of Johnny Blaze alongside Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider for a major moment in Avengers: Secret Wars. Based on the actors’ past roles, it is also possible that Reeves could play Johnny Blaze while Gosling is Danny Ketch, bringing two different Ghost Riders.
Ryan Gosling has already revealed the Marvel role he would love to play, and the MCU could expand in exciting ways if the actor got his wish.
The Two Actors Have Been Popular Fancasts For Years And Want To Play Ghost Rider
Kevin Feige Is Aware Of Gosling’s Desire
After his Oscar-nominated performance as Ken in last year’s Barbie, Gosling is a very popular name right now. With the MCU in need of major stars and big characters due to recent criticism, having the actor play Ghost Rider in the MCU would help the franchise greatly. After revealing to the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he would like to play Ghost Rider in the MCU, the information made its way to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who said having Gosling in the MCU would be great. Now, Gosling once again said he would love to be Ghost Rider.
Like Gosling, Reeves is someone that Feige has revealed he would want to find a role for in the MCU. Despite thinking Wolverine would be cool, Ghost Rider is the ultimate role the John Wick actor wants to play. That is because Reeves revealed that Ghost Rider was his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥hood dream Marvel role, saying, “10-year-old me would want to — I think he’d probably want to be Ghost Rider.” Feige and Reeves have admitted that the two have talked about a role in the MCU for Reeves multiple times, though they have not revealed if Ghost Rider was among them.
With Feige game to cast Reeves and Gosling in the MCU, the actors wanting to play Ghost Rider, and Avengers: Secret Wars offering the perfect project for both to do so, there is a good chance that the actors — or at least one of them — could get their MCU wishes. Both Gosling and Reeves have become fan-favorites to play Ghost Rider in the MCU over the years, and that also helps their chances. After all, John Krasinski played a Reed Richards variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness specifically because Marvel wanted to make fans’ wishes come true.
From Doctor Strange to Wolverine, Keanu Reeves has a long history of statements indicating an acknowledgement of and possible role in the MCU.
Ghost Rider’s Debut Could Come Soon
In the past, the MCU was mostly divided between its cosmic characters and those Earth-based. With the creation of Disney+, several new divisions began to become more pronounced. Many characters were introduced to the shared universe in the past couple of years, and that has contributed to Marvel beginning to create specific pockets within its broad roster of characters. Feige said Daredevil and Spider-Man will be the faces of the street-level MCU; there is a new Guardians of the Galaxy team for the cosmic corner, the tech space has Ironheart and Vision, and then there is the supernatural corner.
While the MCU has had mystical projects like the Doctor Strange movies, Marvel has started to really delve into its magical and horror properties in recent years. The biggest such case was the Werewolf by Night Special Presentation on Disney+. The project was clearly inspired by classic monster movies, adding a unique flair to the MCU with its supernatural story, horror atmosphere, and black-and-white visuals. Werewolf by Night introduced three supernatural characters who could join the MCU’s Midnight Sons, Marvel’s premiere supernatural team of heroes — the titular Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, and Elsa Bloodstone.
Among the MCU’s announced supernatural projects are the Agatha All Along series focused on Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness assembling her own coven of witches and the long-awaited MCU Blade movie, which will star Mahershala Ali as the title character and could be a major step towards the rumored debut of the Midnight Sons. With Blade’s arrival and characters like Moon Knight and Doctor Strange already in the MCU, Ghost Rider is one of the few major supernatural Marvel characters from the comics yet to debut, and Avengers: Secret Wars could see Keanu Reeves and Ryan Gosling bring him to life.
