American rapper Nicki Minaj has broken silence after she was arrested at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam over suspicion of drug possession.
Nicki Minaj revealed that she spent five to six hours in the jail cell following her arrest on Saturday, May 25 night.
The rapper was apprehended by Dutch authorities at Schiphol Airport while she was travelling to Manchester, England for a concert. She live-streamed her altercation with the airport staff on her Instagram channel.
In a statement on her official social media accounts, Nicki explained what transpired and apologized to her fans for having the show postponed.
“Barbz, I’m at the stock exchange hotel in Manchester I arrived a little over an hour ago. After sitting in a jail cell for 5-6 hours, my plane still didn’t take off for another 20 mins once I boarded,” reads part of her post.

She has also promised a makeup of the show with an added bonus for everyone who had a ticket.
“Please accept my deepest & most sincere apologies. They sure did know exactly how to hurt me today but this too, shall pass. I’ll find a way to not only make up the date with the performance but I’m going to create an added bonus for everyone that had a ticket for this show. Promise,” she added.
In addition, Minaj noted that she has enough video evidence on the incident adding that she will have her lawyers take it up from there.
“So, they succeeded at their plan to not let me get on that stage tonight. I succeeded @ getting to the root of it all by recording them & posting everything in real time. I have sooooooooo much video evidence. You wouldn’t believe it if I told you.
I’ll have the lawyers & GOD take it from here though,” she stated.
According to police, the rapper was arrested on suspicion of exporting soft drugs and was later fined and allowed to continue her journey.
In her response Nicki Minaj claimed that the officer took her luggage without her consent and claimed to have found marijuana.
Nicki Says This is Not the First Incident
According to Minaj, there have been similar incidents in the past but she choose not to discuss publicly as she only wants her funs to receive entertainment content only.
“They’ve been doing this over and over again & I’ve tried so hard to not discuss it because you guys deserve to just get the good stuff. I hate involving you in anything that isn’t for entertainment purposes only,” Nicki said.
The show, ‘Pink Friday 2 World Tour’, which she is performing in various cities across Europe is in support of her latest album, released late last year.
She was slated to perform in Manchester, UK on Saturday night May 25, but the show has now been postponed.
The Rapper has also contended that the other shows Scheduled on 26th and 30th in Manchester and Birmingham respectively will continue as planned
“I’ll still be performing at the 2nd in Manchester show on the 30th. 5 days away. I’ll still be performing in Birmingham tomorrow,” she concluded.
