In 2014, actress Anne Hathaway was caught up in the waves and nearly drowned in the ocean in Hawaii, at least that’s what the reports say. Apparently, that was not the case, Hathaway later revealed that she was just a little uncomfortable as she struggled with riptides but she was not drowning.
The actress just tried to alert her husband, just as a precaution, however, her husband, Adam Shulman, thought she was drowning so he ran into the ocean to save her. The situation got very embarrassing for Hathaway as she had things under control but it became very dramatic because of the miscommunication.

In 2014, actress Anne Hathaway appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and cleared out doubts about her drowning incident at a beach in Oahu, Hawaii. She said,
“I went for a swim in Hawaii and I’ve been swimming in the ocean my whole life, it’s never been a problem for me. I think maybe I was a little arrogant, I got caught in a rip and I couldn’t get out and I’m a strong swimmer but I was just kinda stuck for about 400-500 yards out.”
She then explained that she tried to tell her husband, Adam Shulman, that she was “sort of not okay” but he thought Hathaway was drowning.

As paparazzi watched, Shulman and a local man rushed to rescue her and after she was brought back to safety, her husband carefully bandaged up a cut on her left foot that had been caused by a sharp coral reef. She further added in the interview,
“I told him [Shulman], ‘No don’t run out, there’s photographers, you just made this so much more dramatic.’”
With so many paparazzi, the entire story got blown out of proportion. In the picture, it seemed like Hathaway was panicking, however, she was just telling everyone that she was okay. Thankfully, the actress was completely fine, but she started to receive a lot of messages from her friends and family because the media made it seem like the situation was much worse.
