He became President of the company in 1978, and changed the company’s name to Férinel Inc., with a refocus on real estate.

Arnault remained with the company until 1984. He used $15 million of his assets to raise the total $80 million needed to purchase Boussac Saint-Frères. This marked a turning point in his career when Boussac Saint-Frères owned the Christian Dior fashion brand.
