Chelsea fans react to Cole Palmer’s display on England debut last night

Chelsea youngster Cole Palmer hit another landmark last night by making his senior debut for England.

It’s been a rollercoaster few months for Cole Palmer, who’s gone from Manchester City squad player to a new talisman in the Chelsea starting line-up. His rise has now led to a senior call-up at international football, too.

The 21-year-old attacker came off the bench for the final half an hour of England’s 2-0 home win versus Malta on Friday evening.

It was a pretty dull affair in the Euro 2024 qualifier, not helped by the fact that the Three Lions are already qualified and only playing for seeding at next year’s tournament.

However, Palmer’s cameo on his England debut was definitely a bright spark.

Palmer is now a senior England international and we don’t think the extra pressure that comes with that will get to him.

The left-footed attacker actually showed a couple of great touches and dribbles against Malta at Wembley Stadium.

It’s worth pointing out that Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate put him on the pitch as a left-winger, despite the fact his success at Chelsea is coming as a right-winger or central attacking midfielder.

According to Miguel Delaney’s newsletter this week, Palmer has impressed people within the England camp with his work in training during the last few days.

It’s quite telling that the youngster’s new into the main squad and got a healthy chunk of minutes versus Malta yesterday.

We’re pretty confident that Friday night was just the start of a long and successful career for his country.

Fan reaction

A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media absolutely loved watching Palmer making his England debut this week.
