Manchester United have returned to the training ground this week ahead of Saturday’s trip to West Ham in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag will be hoping to use the dogged draw at Liverpool last weekend as a springboard when they visit David Moyes’ team. However, the Reds will be wary of facing a wounded animal in the form of the Iron.

On Wednesday night, the Hammers were unceremoniously dumped out of the Carabao Cup following a 5-1 loss to the Merseyside club at Anfield. Undoubtedly, Moyes will be looking for a reaction from his team so United will need to be wary in the capital.

Ahead of their trip south, the lads have been back at Carrington going through their paces. Here is what MEN Sport spotted.

Onana’s new regime

It has become common practice during United training sessions for the ‘keepers to do their own thing while the outfield players focus on what they need to work on. However, with playing out from the back being such a crucial element of football these days, this approach does seem outdated.

Ten Hag appears to have noticed this and has brought Onana into the outfield training sessions this week where he appears to have been involved in a close-quarters drill with his teammates. The Cameroonian has been criticised for his distribution since joining United so this change of training regime could look to rectify this problem.

Amad plays prominent role

After a knee injury curtailed plans for him to make an impact so far this campaign, Amad has now returned to full training and is pushing for a place in the squad. The Ivorian played a prominent role in the session and will be hopeful of getting some minutes under his belt before AFCON in January.

Van de Beek still involved

Eintracht Frankfurt are confident they have got Van de Beek snapped up in January. Ten Hag even claimed a couple of weeks ago a departure is needed for the good of his career.

However, there was no signs of him slacking off as he took part in training. He was pictured alongside the returning Bruno Fernandes who is back after a one-match suspension.
