Scottie Scheffler could make $60M in 2024 earnings… with world No 1 on track to pocket more than any NFL, MLB or NBA star

Scottie Scheffler has left all of his PGA Tour rivals trailing in his wake this season and the world No 1 could even outᵴtriƥ the highest earners in baseball, basketball and football.

Scheffler has already won six times on the PGA Tour in 2024, including at The Masters and last week’s Travelers Championship.

That has seen the 28-year-old pocket $27,696,858 in the last six months alone – more than double the amount of Xander Schauffele – the next highest earner ($12,636,360).

Shohei Ohtani signed the richest contract in team sports history when he joined the Dodgers on a 10-year, $700m deal.

That should have seen him pocket $70m a year but the two-way star has reportedly deferred all-but $2m of those annual earnings.

It’s thought his teammate, pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, will take home the most of any MLB player this season ($55,000,000).

The highest earner in the NBA for 2024/25, meanwhile, is Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors star will take home $55,761,216.

That is $7m less than Joe Burrow, who makes the highest average annual salary in the NFL. The Bengals quarterback pockets $62.9m a year.

Scheffler’s incredible 2024 has hit a few road bumps, including at the PGA Championship – where he was sensationally arrested – and at the US Open, where he barely made the cut.

Joe Burrow ($62.9m) and Stephen Curry ($55.8m) are the NFL’s and NBA’s highest earners

But the American has nevertheless enjoyed a period of dominance not seen since the heyday of Tiger Woods. Scheffler has won six of his past 10 tournaments.

That extraordinary run includes the Travelers, Memorial, RBC Heritage, the Players Championship, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Masters.

The final major of 2024 is still to come, with the Open Championship slated to take place at Royal Troon next month. Last year’s winner Brian Harman earned $3million for winning the Claret Jug.

He already has a near-insurmountable lead in the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 standings, which offers $8m to the winner. Scheffler will also be favorite to win the FedExCup ($25million).

Other earning opportunities await at the FedEx St Jude, BMW Championship and via the PGA Tour’s player impact program. This year’s winner, it’s said, will take home $10m.
