Bronny James may not be the brightest talent in the 2024 NBA Draft, but he still receives a lot of attention. Because he is the son of LeBron James, the number 1 star in the NBA
Bronny James could make a lot of money from his endorsement deals. However, his NBA contract will not be high, even low compared to his fellow rookies. Because Bronny was only selected in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft.
So how much could Bronny earn in the 2024/25 season? Join Sporting News to find out about the LA Lakers rookie’s contract.
Bronny James’ rookie contract with the Los Angeles Lakers
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic , Bronny will sign a long-term contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. He will play with the Lakers in the NBA instead of playing in the G-League.
NBA players’ initial contracts are limited by their position in the NBA Draft. The earlier a player is selected, the higher his salary will be, and vice versa. As a 55th pick, Bronny’s base salary will be lower than most of his peers.
But Bronny is the rare exception. His agent, Rich Paul, revealed in May 2024, before the NBA Draft, that his client would not sign a “two-way ” contract . That statement may have turned off some teams, but it also guaranteed him a good salary. With the Lakers selecting Bronny, they will surely accept his demands.
For comparison, the Denver Nuggets signed 2023 second-round pick Jalen Pickett to a four-year, $8.2 million deal ($5.8 million guaranteed). By contrast, last year’s final second-round pick, Chris Livingston, agreed to a four-year, $7.6 million deal ($3.1 million guaranteed) with the Bucks.
Two-way players earn around $560,000 in the 2023/24 season, half the league’s minimum rookie salary.
The numbers above won’t change much in the 2024/25 season, so Bronny James should expect a guaranteed salary of around $1.2 million/year . If he plays well and secures a spot with a Lakers first team, he’ll get a slightly higher salary.
