Mbappe and disappointing numbers at Euro 2024

Superstar Kylian Mbappe has officially said goodbye to Euro 2024 when France lost to Spain in the semi-finals, ending a forgettable tournament with disappointing performances.

The French national team has officially ended its journey to conquer the Euro 2024 title with a “convincing” defeat against the Spanish national team . Deschamps’ army continued to leave a disappointing performance as they had shown before, and stopping before a La Roja at its peak was not too surprising.

In the overall disappointment of Les Bleus, Kylian Mbappe’s performance was perhaps the clearest representative. The 26-year-old had a disappointing match against Spain’s somewhat patchy defense, indirectly causing his team to stop.

In 90 minutes on the field, apart from one assist, Mbappe left behind unimpressive stats when he only touched the ball 30 times , made 2/5 successful dribble attempts , fired 4 shots and only 1 of them was on target.

More notably, Mbappe’s form has been “regularly” maintained by this player throughout the Euro 2024 campaign, he only scored 1 goal from the penalty spot . This is also only the first goal of this superstar after 2 times participating in Euro, he only had 1 more assist in the loss to Spain in the semi-finals and especially did not have a single goal from an open ball .

This is clearly a big disappointment for Mbappe personally because the 2018 World Cup champion’s class is expected to help Les Bleus conquer the Euro title for the first time in 24 years, but perhaps Mbappe and the French national team’s stars will need to wait at least 4 years to be able to achieve the above goal.

After the match, Mbappe was distraught as he could not hide his disappointment. The 26-year-old player held his head in regret at the defeat, along with apologies sent to the fans who had traveled from France to the Munich Arena to cheer on Deschamps’ army.

Back to the match, the French team entered the game like a dream with the opening goal of striker Kolo Muani after a perfect assist from Mbappe. However, a moment of genius from Lamine Yamal ended the French party with a super goal against Mike Maignan, and then Dani Olmo’s goal came as a matter of course. Despite great efforts in the remaining minutes, Mbappe and his teammates could not find the net of Unai Simon again, thereby accepting defeat with a score of 1-2.

The defeat against Spain once again prevented France from reaching the final after 8 years, and Les Bleus once again fell at the threshold of heaven after losing to Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final.
