More team-up rumors are fueled by LeBron James and Steph Curry’s collaborative Instagram post

Will LeBron James and Steph Curry join forces again?

The 2024 Olympics were magical for several reasons, chief among them being LeBron James and Steph Curry teaming up in competitive games for the first time. Now, fans want to see the two join forces on either the Los Angeles Lakers or Golden State Warriors.

Speculation of the two’s future collaborative plans intensified when they dropped a joint post on Wednesday, via Instagram.

“Same Team…Winning Team,” Curry captioned the post, showing him with James and Kevin Durant holding their gold medals.

“LeBron and Steph collab posted??? I’ve seen enough STEPH YOU ARE A LAKERRRRR😭😭😭” @lakersalldayeveryday commented.

“Curry to the Lakers we gotta see it one time man,” @jdelrosar1o said.

“Aye stop dropping hints…I’m getting excited,” @b.ellis0 pleaded.

“Stop flirting and team up with the warriors,” @simbamuduma said.

Will the two stars honor these fans’ requests?

The idea of James and Curry joining forces has floated around in NBA circles before. However, James’ agent Rich Paul didn’t want the four-time champion to move to the Bay Area, via ESPN’s Marc Stein.

“It is believed that the Lakers would have reluctantly entertained trade conversations with the Warriors before last February’s trade deadline if James wanted them to seriously engage Golden State on a potential deal,” Stein explained. “Yet league sources say that the reported talks between the teams at the time never got that far in large part because James’ agent Rich Paul was adamantly opposed to the idea of LeBron James swapping Southern California for Northern California.”

Paul believed that James joining Curry on the Dubs would have damaged his legacy in the eyes of fans.

“Sources say Rich Paul implored both teams to scrap the concept — despite some owner-to-owner dialogue between the Warriors’ Joe Lacob and the Lakers’ Jeanie Buss and Green’s determination to lobby James to push for relocation to the Bay Area — largely because he wanted to insulate James from potential backlash over switching teams for the fourth time in his career,” Stein continued.

Based on the comments underneath the aforementioned post, though, it doesn’t look like the fans would be upset by a Curry-James partnership. Seeing the two bring the USA the gold medal this summer most likely had something to do with that.

Despite James being 39 and Curry being 36, the two ageless wonders dominated the international competition. James was the Olympic MVP, while Curry iced the Gold Medal Game against France with several clutch threes and his patented “night night” celebration.
