Not Denzel Washington But This TV Show’s Massive News Has Stephen Curry Beaming With Joy

What can’t Stephen Curry do? Well, he is already one of the best hoopers in the world with a Hall of Fame worthy resume. But even off the hardwood, Steph has excelled as a golfer and a businessman. And now, the magician has somehow taken over the acting world with his latest show Mr. Throwback. Impressed by his s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s in front of the camera, Bay Area veteran Daryle Johnson issued a stern warning to actor Denzel Washington. However, the Baby-Faced Assassin was ecstatic for a different reason!

In conversation with Steph, Johnson complemented the Warriors star’s acting s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s, “Denzel better watch out coz you were on fire on Underrated.” Well, Underrated was the documentary that released last year and covered Curry’s journey from being an undersized guard to a Bay Area legend. But he was not really acting in that movie as it was a candid footage. So, Steph corrected the media veteran when he was asked how his acting gig was going.

“Oh, you talking about Mr. Throwback. I loved it man. Getting my acting chops going. Hopefully, there’s a season 2 next summer.” Steph remarked, revealing that we might see him set the screen on fire once again with a potential second season of his latest show. However, he was not too sure about competing with a legend like Denzel, “But yeah, I don’t know about Denzel.” But he did appreciate Johnson for acknowledging his talent on the Steiny and Guru show.

While Steph kept a humble approach amid the compliments, he did a tremendous job in the first season of the show which released last month. Although he was playing himself in the mockumentary style comedy series which follows the story of a former basketball sensation Danny Grossman, played by Adam Pally, Steph stood out with his on-camera presence and unlimited aura. And it looks like the four-time champ has caught the acting bug.

Stephen Curry wants more acting gigs after hitting “Goldmine” with Mr. Throwback

Well, the show that aired on NBC’s Peacock was produced by Steph’s own Unanimous Media. And they have some big projects lined up which might also require the Warriors star to act on screen yet again. Moreover, Steph is thrilled after the success of Mr. Throwback’s debut season, “I think Mr. Throwback hit a goldmine with the timing obviously [launched with the Paris Olympics], and it was such a fast production, an unbelievable experience, and then we got to package it all right before the gold medal game. So hopefully, there’s a lot more to come there.”

With Steph’s popularity at an all-time high after his heroics in Paris, the show proved to be the perfect icing on the cake. When asked in a recent interview if he would take up more acting gigs in the future, he said, “For sure, and people love that answer, because it wasn’t always the case. It wasn’t the case because I didn’t want to half-a** anything.” With his busy NBA schedule, Steph obviously does not get enough time to polish his acting s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s. But he is looking forward to more gigs in the future now that he has made his debut, “When I’m done playing, I’m hoping that there’s more opportunities to kind of expand there in front of the camera.”

Moreover, he has the perfect acting tutor at home, “I got a little bit of training at home. My wife [Ayesha Curry], she’s been an actress for the longest time. She did a movie last year with Lindsay Lohan [Netflix’s Irish Wish]. She was encouraging me to go on this journey.” So, don’t be surprised if Steph pops up on your screen playing a completely different character. And who knows, he might even share the screen with Denzel one day.
