Jason Kelce had to be consoled by fellow ESPN personality Marcus Spears after the Philadelphia Eagles legend had a less-than-stellar showing at the ‘Tailgate Gauntlet’ pregame.
Jason Kelce received a hug from fellow ESPN commentator Marcus Spears before the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans matchup after breaking a world record which left his colleague unable to contain his laughter.
As part of ESPN’s coverage of ‘Monday Night Football,’ Kelce was tabbed to partake in the ‘Tailgate Gauntlet,’ a series of challenges against YouTube stars ‘Dude Perfect’. The challenges included cornhole, ladder toss and throwing a football through a tire, among other tasks.
Conventional wisdom would dictate that Kelse, as a former professional football player, would be able to breeze through the challenges. However, the opposite occurred, with the former Philadelphia Eagles center struggling mightily to catch up against ‘Dude Perfect’.
Interestingly, one of the challenges Kelce struggled with was throwing the football, either throwing it too strong or with not enough power. The 37-year-old also failed to catch a football blindfolded, which is just as difficult as it sounds, as he attempted to set a record.
The one challenge Kelce succeeded in was catching a hot dog wiener in a bun from a considerable distance. Kelce was positioned on one end of the field outside AT&T Stadium with a member of Dude Perfect on the other end, throwing wieners as far and as hard as he could to break the world record of longest throw and catch of hot dog into a bun, which was 167 feet.
After the first attempt went wide, Kelce snagged a wiener perfectly in a hot dog bun on the second attempt, with the 37-year-old holding the now-completed hot dog. Kelce then did a victory lap after setting the record after his impressive attempt.

Once Kelce was back alongside Scott Van Pelt, Ryan Clark and Spears, the rest of the group didn’t take long to let the former Eagles star know their thoughts. “That’s a world record?” Van Pelt asked dryly to which Kelce replied: “Hot dog’s in the bun – I got it.”
Van Pelt then retorted: “When you and I talked back in the Spring, is this what you pictured? This what you pictured?” Spears couldn’t contain his laughter as Kelce shook his head before replying: “This is why they pay me the big bucks.”

The 37-year-old then burst into laughter as Van Pelt continued to talk about Kelce’s impressive ability to catch a hot dog wiener with a bun from over 160 feet away. While Kelce laughed, Spears stood up and hugged the legend, as he continued to laugh at what he just saw.
Overall, it had been an interesting leadup to the Cowboys and Texans matchup. Additionally, before the game, Kelce and Clark were lambasted on social media for their outfits, with many calling out Clark’s choice of wearing a suit with two different textures.
Furthermore, a piece of the roof of AT&T Stadium fell off after the roof was attempted to be opened. The metal piece slowly fell to the field and it did not hit anyone on the field at the time.
