Stephen Curry Admits He Had Conversations With Kevin Durant About Potential Reunion On The Warriors

For three straight years, Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors formed a nearly perfect partnership, winning two straight titles and making the Finals in each season they were together.

By the end of the 2019 Finals, however, the writing was on the wall for that group, and Kevin Durant moved on to what he thought was a better situation in Brooklyn.

Considering how it ended, nobody imagined that Curry and Durant would ever reunite as teammates again but no. 30 himself revealed that he and KD had conversations about joining forces again as recently as this past season.

“I think there was an excitement or curiosity of, ‘Is this really a legit possibility?’” Curry told The Ringer’s Logan Murdock and Raja. “And to be honest, I had talked to him maybe once or twice about it specifically, but he wasn’t in the decision-making process, so he wasn’t in a position to where he could be like, ‘I want to do X, Y, Z.’ It was just more of a natural conversation.”

Obviously, the two never did end up linking up, although the Warriors were rumored to be involved in Durant trade talks back in February before the Suns pulled off a deal.

Curry was likely a driving force behind that, and it seems he’s very open to playing with Durant again one day in the future.

Curry Had No Hard Feelings Toward Kevin Durant

Despite breaking up a dynasty, Kevin Durant has never expressed regret over his decision to walk away from the Warriors.

Perhaps even more surprising is that Steph Curry has never placed blame on his former teammate for ending a historical run.

“I never really had any hurt, to begin with,” the 2x MVP admitted. “I knew, as a man, as an athlete, he didn’t owe me anything. He didn’t owe our franchise anything. It was a situation when he left; it was his own decision.”

Durant is in Phoenix now, and it’s probably where he’ll end his career at his point. But if something ever happens with the Suns, and KD decides to pack up his bags again, the Warriors will be there, ready to welcome him back.
