Moises Caicedo Signs, Mohammed Kudus Deal – Chelsea’s Dream Final Month Of Transfer Window

We takes an extensive look at what would be considered a ‘dream’ final month to the 2023 summer transfer window for Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino

We are now into August – which means for Chelsea, there is only a month remaining of the 2023 summer transfer window as Mauricio Pochettino looks to improve his squad.

It has been another summer of transition for the club, with Pochettino taking over as the permanent head coach following Graham Potter’s departure last season. The Argentine has already got some of his ideas across to his new group of players, as we have seen during Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the United States in recent weeks.

However, with 13 players leaving the club already this window – and with the possibility of more doing the same in the coming weeks – the squad has become unbalanced. The club, though, are working hard behind the scenes to try and ensure the squad is in the best possible condition by the time the transfer window closes.

“I don’t know because if I say numbers I can create a problem,” Pochettino said when asked how many players Chelsea need to bring in before the end of the summer transfer window. “For me it’s important, the club is working really hard to improve all the areas, the right profiles to make the squad strong. The club is working really hard to find the right profile.”

So with a month of the window remaining, there is still plenty of work to be done by Chelsea. With that said, football.london takes a deep dive into what would be considered the ‘dream’ outcome of the window for everyone involved at Chelsea.

Caicedo finally joins

Moises Caicedo to Chelsea has undoubtedly what we call a transfer saga. The Blues have been in talks with Brighton for months over a deal to sign the Ecuador international, but the Seagulls remain intent they will not sell the midfielder unless Chelsea meet their £100million valuation.

Thus far, Chelsea have seen three offers rejected, with the latest one understood to be around £80m altogether. Talks are ongoing with Brighton, football.london understands, and there remains a confidence from a Chelsea point of view that they will get this deal over the line. When, however, remains a mystery to all of us.

There has never been an issue with Caicedo and his desire to join Chelsea. The 21-year-old himself has admitted how much he would love a move to Stamford Bridge and has agreed verbally on personal terms with the west Londoners.

Kudus deal agreed

Chelsea initiated contact with Ajax last month over a possible move for Mohammed Kudus, as football.london reported. The Blues are looking at multiple players in that position, including Rayan Cherki, following the departures of attacking options like Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic.

So Chelsea are looking for more creativity and Kudus has been identified as someone who fits that particular bill. No offer has yet been made to Ajax but initial discussions have taken place and the Dutch club may be open to selling the Ghana international at the right price considering his contract status.

Nothing yet, though, is advanced between the two clubs. Chelsea will once again talk with Ajax before the month is over, however, as they look to bring Kudus to the Bridge.

Disasi signed

As reported on Sunday, Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Axel Disasi from AS Monaco. The Blues have agreed a £38m deal with the Ligue 1 outfit for the French centre-back, who is expected to join Chelsea in the coming days.

Following the serious injury Wesley Fofana suffered recently, Chelsea have been left short at centre-back. Benoît Badiashile is also recovering from a hamstring problem, so the club have been forced to make a move.

A deal to bring Disasi to west London is now in its final stages, with just a few minor details to be settled upon. Disasi is set to complete his move to Chelsea in the very near future.
