When it is all said and done, Mike Trout will be one of the best baseball players of all time. Mike Trout, in his age 31 season, is already an 85.3 WAR player. To put this into perspective he is already ahead of Mariners great Ken Griffey Jr, a 83.8 WAR player, and tied with Braves legend Chipper Jones. But as of late Mike Trout has been bitten by the Injury bug.
Mike Trout hasn’t played a full workload in a season since 2016 and 2020 (which was the covid shortened season) In 2017 he was sidelined for 39 games with a torn thumb ligament. In 2018 he missed 18 games to right wrist inflammation. In 2021 Trout only played in 36 games due to a right calf strain. The 2023 season has been no different, Mike Trout has been out since July 3rd after he broke his hamate bone in his left hand. He injured it swinging during an at bat and the test revealed he needed surgery, which is supposed to keep him on the IL for 6 weeks. While it sucks not seeing one of the best players doing his thing and making history, it will give our Mariners a better chance in this series.
Mike Trout is a Mariner 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁er, he loves facing the Mariners. Trout’s slashline against the Mariners in his career is .312/.428/.657, he has a 1.084 OPS against the Mariners. Trout has hit 54 homeruns, scored 144 runs and knocked in 135 runs against the Mariners. Trout loves playing against the Mariners and his stats show that. While it sucks that we don’t get to watch one of the greatest players in the league and possibly of all time when he finishes his career. It benefits the Mariners who would like to take 3 out of 4 from the Angels in the series.
