A 74-year-old Indian woman gave 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to twins through the use of in vitro fertilisation (IVF).
Erramatti Mangayamma and her 80-year-old farmer spouse Rajarao have waited nearly 60 years to have 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren.
She has surpassed the world’s eldest mother’s age in the East Godavari district village of Nelapartipadu.
“I’m ecstatic. God has heard our petitions, she informed the media following the 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡. The twins, who were 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 via caesarean section, were extremely knowledgeable despite their advanced age.
On March 22, 1962, Nelapartipadu of the East Godavari district wed Mangayamma. The marriage was 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥less for decades until Yerramatti read about a 55-year-old expectant woman living nearby. Using IVF, the woman became expectant.
But at over 70 years of age, she experienced menopause. When the ovaries were insufficient to satisfy the requirements. Even at this age, they are ineligible to become parents. Then, a second miracle occurred for elders. Using donor eggs and sperm from her spouse, who was over 80 years old.
Doctor Umasankar stated, “Because she is old and unable to produce eggs, we obtained donor eggs and sperm from her husband.”
“Fortunately, she conceived during the first cycle, and her pregnancy was discovered in January. It went without a hitch because there were no health complications.
Each 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 was delivered healthy and weighing approximately 2 kilogrammes. She was unable to breastfeed her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, however. Since then, Mangayamma has been under the care of nursing home physicians.
According to Guinness World Records, Mangayamma surpasses the previous record for the world’s oldest mother, which was held by either 72-year-old Daljinder Kaur from Amritsar, who gave 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 in 2017, or 66-year-old Maria del Carmen Bousada Lara.
