Onana: I Want To Emulate Man Utd Greats And Become The Best In The World

Former Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana says he has joined Manchester United with the ambition of becoming a club legend.

The Cameroonian shot-stopper completed a free transfer to Old Trafford this summer after his contract at Inter expired. However, he arrives with a point to prove after serving a nine-month doping ban last season.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Onana admitted the suspension still lingers over him in some people’s minds.

“Many people read the headlines: Onana disqualified for doping. He is a scammer, a dopingist,” he said.

“When my suspension expired, I celebrated like I won the Champions League. I’m back in business.”

But Onana is now fully focussed on etching his name into United folklore after signing what is rumoured to be a five-year contract.

He proclaimed: “I want to become a Manchester United legend and the best goalkeeper in the world.”

The 26-year-old will now look to displace David de Gea as United’s number one between the posts and prove any doubters wrong regarding the doping ban from his time at Inter.

If he can live up to his aim of legendary status, it would help United finally find long-term stability in goal again after years of uncertainty.
