At the age of 25, Sinenhlanhla Passcara Mthembu is the proud founder and director of her own law firm. Based in Durban, South Africa, her firm is called Passcara and Partners Incorporated and focuses on family law, personal injury, and more.
Although she knows that she is much younger than most lawyers who have their own law firm, she did not allow her age to stop her from making history!
After finishing law school, she went on to start working. But since she always dreamed of establishing her own business, she decided to take a bold step to quit and become her own boss.
“I took it as a challenge upon myself to do it. I then decided that no matter what people say I’m going to do this,” she told Power FM. “It was difficult from the point where I started my degree to where I am now. I don’t regret anything.”
She recently announced the launch of her own law firm on Twitter and introduced herself as the founder and director. She wrote, “I am to Inspire. If I did it then so can you!!!”
With her young age and the intimidating nature of the industry she chose, she admits that it is challenging for her to market herself. However, she is positive that word-of-mouth marketing from her clients will truly benefit her.
“What is hard in our field is marketing yourself. There is a thin line between marketing and touting. Touting is like when you are asking or begging for clients,” she said. “It makes it hard to market because you don’t want to cross that thin line that the [legal] council has put for us.”
