Sometimes a little alone time is the only thing that can save you.
Anne Hathaway is one of the most praised Hollywood stars nowadays, and there are many reasons for that. Well, she is for sure the most versatile of all female actors there is and has made her name in the industry by playing the most different roles there can be.
From the teenage princess in The Princess Diaries to the awkward fashion assistant in The Devil Wears Prada she made her performances unforgettably amazing. But there was a role that cost too much to her, also brought her fame and acknowledgment to another level.
In 2013, she received her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Les Misérables. Although there weren’t that many scenes with her in the movie, the ones that were there left an unforgettable impression on fans.
However, after winning the award she seemed to fade away from the public eye. Turns out there was an explanation for her behavior. The time she spent working on Les Misérables was actually very difficult for her. And she indeed felt miserable after finishing the movie.
The actress even told US Weekly that when she received her award she wasn’t even happy. Instead, she felt uncomfortable.
“I kind of lost my mind doing that movie and it hadn’t come back yet. Then I had to stand up in front of people and feel something I don’t feel, which is uncomplicated happiness,” she said in the interview.
The movie hit her so hard that she just wanted to escape reality, so she refused to participate in new projects and felt that people needed a break from her.
Surely, it seems that she was the one who needed a break from all the pressure. And this break lasted for almost a year. Good thing she got her well-deserved rest and returned!
