Injury Updates on Mike Trout, Mike Moustakas, Chase Silseth and More

The Los Angeles Angels are winding down their disappointing season. Injuries have been one of the biggest stories, as the team’s three highest-paid players — Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon — have all missed time with injury, the last two missing an especially significant amount of time.

The Angels have nothing left to play for this year, aside from seeing who deserves a spot on next year’s roster. However, for injured players, it’s always nice to return before the end of the season to head into the offseason on a positive note.

On Tuesday, before the team’s loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, manager Phil Nevin provided injury updates on tons of players. Here’s everything you need to know:

Mike Trout traveled with the team to Tampa Bay to be able to continue rehabbing his fractured hamate. He’s continuing to take dry swings but is without a timetable for a return.

Chase Silseth, who suffered a concussion last month, threw 30 pitches in his rehab outing on Sunday, and will pitch in the minors at least once more before potentially returning before the end of the season.

“He felt good,” Nevin said. “He felt healthy. His head was clear which is what we were looking for the most.”

Mike Moustakas took swings and played defense as he’s dealing with a sore wrist. He’s eligible to be activated off the IL on Saturday, and Nevin made it sound like he’ll be good enough to return then.

Jaime Barria, dealing with a hamstring injury, has been throwing, and is eligible to return on Friday. The team is expecting him to be back before the end of the year.

Finally, Reid Detmers is taking the mound on Wednesday after having his start skipped on Sunday due to an illness.
