Jayson Tatum Gets Real On Bucks Threat Level After Damian Lillard Trade

Jayson Tatum spoke to Chris Haynes about the new-look Milwaukee Bucks.

The Milwaukee Bucks made one of the biggest blockbuster trades of the summer, acquiring superstar Damian Lillard in a blockbuster trade with the Portland Trail Blazers. Many consider them the favorites to get out of the Eastern Conference due to the talent level on the roster.

Recently, Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum gave his honest take on the challenge the Milwaukee Bucks will pose next season when speaking to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report. He noted that the Bucks have two of the best players at their positions, and noted that facing them might be tough but fun.

“They’re going to have a hell of a team. There’s no way around that. They have two of the best players in this league at two of those prime-time positions. They’re going to be tough, but it’s gonna be fun. I’m looking forward to this season. It’s a lot of really, really good teams in the league and it’s going be some good basketball this season.”

Though the Bucks are certainly a threat to win the Eastern Conference, the Celtics are right behind them. They responded to the Lillard move by trading for Jrue Holiday, which gives them a defensive point guard to put on Lillard.

Ultimately, the Celtics’ championship hopes rest on Jayson Tatum’s shoulders. He will have to outplay other superstars if the Celtics are to win the title. This past season, Tatum averaged 30.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, and it is clear he is an All-NBA talent. However, Tatum will have to rise to true MVP status to help the Celtics reach the next level.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Is Motivated To Make His Partnership With Damian Lillard A Success

It is clear that at this point, it is fair to say that the Milwaukee Bucks front office did their job and helped Giannis Antetokounmpo by acquiring another superstar-level talent to be his co-star. Antetokounmpo previously explained what he and Lillard need to do to succeed, noting that a lot of film-watching needs to happen for chemistry purposes.

“We’ve got to watch film together because we have to expedite our chemistry. We cannot just wait to play in training camp and the first game of the preseason and then figure things out. We need to get in the film room and talk to each other to see how we’re going to click. At the end of the day, I know we’re both willing to be ourselves and let the other guy be himself. I need Dame to be Dame, and I think he needs me to be me.”

There is no doubt that Antetokounmpo is motivated to make his partnership with Lillard work. Hopefully, we see the two develop chemistry quickly, and the process should be relatively fast given that their s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 sets are the perfect fit together.

A Potential Series Between The Celtics And Bucks Will Be Electric

Based on the talent on their respective rosters, many expect the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks to meet in the Eastern Conference Finals. That potential matchup is definitely an exciting prospect due to all the star power present.

A matchup between Jayson Tatum and Giannis Antetokounmpo could show who will be the better player going forward. Though as of right now, many believe that Antetokounmpo is better than Tatum, that could change if Tatum leads the Celtics to a victory over the Bucks.

Hopefully, we do get to see the Celtics and the Bucks face off against one another in the future. Though that is far from guaranteed as of right now, it is still a very exciting scenario to think about.
