James first purchased the property in the famous Los Angeles neighborhood in 2020.
Listed at $39 million, he managed to knock $2 million off of the asking price for the 2.5-acre plot.
The original four-bedroom home was constructed in the 1930s and included eight bathrooms, two separate guesthouses, seven fireplaces, a tennis court, a movie theater, a swimming pool, and a pool house.
The Mediterranean-style home enjoyed views of Beverly Hills and the Pacific Ocean, but it seems James envisaged a better way to make the most of the stunning views.
The foundations of the new home have begun to take shape, with part of the new property appearing to have been built into the hillside.
Elsewhere pillars have been constructed around the edges of the property with retaining walls also in place.
Once finished, this will be the crowning jewel in James’ property portfolio.
Over in Brentwood, California, he also owns a $23 million mansion, which he’s had since 2017.
The primary James family home, it’s impressive at 16,000 square feet and includes eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.
The house also includes comforts such as a movie theater, wine cellar, cigar room, and spa complete with a steam room, sauna, and massage room.
James also owns a $9 million home in his home state of Ohio.
Purchased back in 2003 for $2.1 million, this 30,000-square-foot mansion has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
It too isn’t short of comforts either such as a two-lane bowling alley, a recording studio, a movie theater, an aquarium, and a barbershop.
James is currently preparing for his 21st season in the NBA.
The league’s oldest active player, his reaction to finding out he had reached this milestone recently went viral.
