Mbappe shined and scored, but France still drew disappointingly with Poland and sadly ceded the top spot

Kylian Mbappe scored on the penalty spot, but France could only get a 1-1 draw against Poland at Signal Iduna Park (Dortmund) on the evening of June 25 and finished Euro 2024 Group D with second place.

Poland was officially eliminated after the second match, but they still played with high spirit when facing France. Coach Deschamps’ team dominated the match, but Mbappe and Dembele had an ungainly match and could not score in the first half.

In the second half, France continued to press the field and the highlight of the match came in the 56th minute when Dembele earned a penalty. Mbappe stepped up to defeat goalkeeper Skorupski, opening the score 1-0 for France. This is Mbappe’s first goal at a Euro tournament.

It seemed like France had won, but in the 79th minute, Poland was awarded a penalty when Dayot Upamecano fouled Swiderski in the penalty area. After two attempts, Lewandowski scored to equalize 1-1 for Poland and this was the final result of the match.
