Kanguva trailer: Suriya film is releasing in October.
Suriya’s much-anticipated actioner, Kanguva, is undoubtedly one of the biggest films of Tamil cinema with the potential to become the actor’s contribution to the pan-Indian cinema movement. Directed by Siva and backed by Studio Green’s Gnanavel Raja, Kanguva has consistently piqued the audience’s collective imagination with each of its updates. Now, with the embers of expectation glowing in many minds, the makers upped the fire power by releasing the trailer of Kanguva, which marks the Tamil debut of Disha Patani and Bobby Deol.
Right from the first look of the film, and the glimpse that showcased the period portions of Kanguva, featuring Suriya as a warrior of a clan, the film has been receiving a lot of attention. With National Award-winning composer Devi Sri Prasad delivering a blockbuster of a song in the “Fire Song”, Kanguva trailer has become the extra fuel to the fire that will, hopefully, allow the hype train to move along the tracks to the release date of October 10.
Kanguva means ‘fire’ in Tamil, and the trailer clearly lives by the title, and teases a wild tale that plays across two timelines. It is interesting how the makers are still shielding the ‘present’ day portions featuring a suave and stylish Suriya, and focussing completely on the intense and rugged warrior of the past. The trailer with its interesting captioning like “Primal Courage,” “Raw Rage,” and “Bring out your tribal instincts” are well in line for the trailer that is primal, raw, and effective. We see Suriya and Bobby Deol as two leaders of warring tribes, and how the former reacts to a wake of destruction left by the latter. The foot-tapping and rousing score by Devi Sri Prasad adds to the vibe of the trailer filled with elements of nature and vignettes of adventure. We see nuggets of sea piracy, flying eagles, galloping horses, incessant rains, almost a Mayan-like structures, majestic elephants, and finally a glimpse of a character that is expected to be Karthi’s surprise inclusion.
If all goes to plan, Kanguva might just be the next big thing from Tamil cinema, and it has all the ingredients in place to become not just a national success but a global one too. Reportedly made in a budget of over Rs 350 crore, the big-budget spectacle is getting ready for a Dussehra release.
Apart from Suriya, Bobby and Disha, Kanguva also stars Jagapathu Babu, Natty Natarajan, KS Ravikumar, and Kovai Sarala in pivotal roles. The film is also expected to be released in 3D and IMAX formats in almost two dozen languages.
