After “7 days of hell” without receiving any official information from the new boss, Twitter employees finally got some answers to their questions.

Elon Musk has finally broken his silence with Twitter employees.

After seven days of not hearing from their new boss, Twitter employees received an email on November 3 confirming that a major layoff would take place starting today, Friday, November 4. The email also said that all of the company’s offices would be “temporarily closed.”

Below is the email content:

Team,

In an effort to put Twitter on a healthy path, we will be undergoing the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday. We recognize that this will impact some individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is necessary to ensure the future success of the company.

Due to the unique nature of this and the desire to notify affected individuals as quickly as possible, communication for this process will take place via email.

By 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Wednesday, November 4, all Twitter employees will receive an email with the subject line: Your role at email. Please check your email, including your spam folder.

If your work is not affected, you will receive a notification via Twitter email.

If your job is affected, you will receive notification of next steps via personal email.

If you do not receive an email from twitter-hr@ by 5pm Pacific Time on November 4, please send an email to…

To ensure the safety of each employee, as well as Twitter systems and customer data, our office will be temporarily closed and all access will be suspended. If you are in the office or on your way to the office, please return home.

We know this has been an incredibly challenging experience, whether you have been impacted or not. Thank you for continuing to follow Twitter’s policies about not discussing confidential company information on social media, in the press, or elsewhere.

We appreciate your contributions to Twitter and your patience as we go through this process.

Thank you.
