Sabrina Ionescu stole the show on Tuesday night as she led the New York Liberty to a series-clinching 91-82 victory over the Atlanta Dream in Game 2 of their first-round WNBA playoffs series. The three-time All-Star went off for a playoff career-high 36 points on 12-of-23 shooting to go along with five triples, nine assists and three steals in 39 minutes of action.
Thanks to Ionescu’s heroics, the Liberty are now headed to the semis after closing out the Dream series, 2-0. The 5-foot-11 guard was so good in this one that even Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry had to take notice.
The GOAT shooter kept it subtle as he simply reposted Bleacher Report’s tweet on Ionescu’s incredible performance.
Curry and Ionescu have a history. Both are widely considered the best shooters in their respective leagues, and the pair went head-to-head on a never-before-seen three-point shootout during the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend.
While it was Curry who ultimately came out on top, there’s no denying that Ionescu proved to the basketball world that she’s capable of going toe-to-toe with the greatest shooter who ever lived.

Ionescu and the Liberty are now headed to the semifinals, where they will battle either the two-time defending champions Las Vegas Aces or the Seattle Storm. The Aces and the Storm are still in action as of writing, with Las Vegas just one win away from securing a matchup against New York in the second round.
That will potentially be a rematch of the 2023 WNBA Finals.
