The immense popularity of #JIMIN’s ‘WHO’ continues with new records on Spotify Japan & South Korea’s Circle Chart

For many years, even before his official solo debut, Jimin has been a beloved figure in both South Korea and Japan. His popularity spans all demographics, frequently earning mentions from radio and TV show hosts, celebrities, top athletes, and young fans who admire him as a role model and aspire to follow in his footsteps.

Additionally, Jimin consistently tops ‘Best Dancer in K-pop’ polls, with widespread praise for his uniquely captivating and mesmerizing stage presence. It’s no surprise, then, that his latest single “WHO” has performed impeccably on streaming platforms in both countries.

Notably, Japan is the second largest music market globally after the USA, and therefore, good chart performance in this country is a solid testament to an artist’s widespread popularity and high demand for his music. South Korea also ranks 7th among the biggest music markets in the world according to the 2023 report by IFPI.

As of the charts dated Oct 2, Jimin’s hit single ‘WHO‘ is still on Spotify Japan’s song chart at #3, spending its 76th consecutive day on the chart and never leaving the chart since release. Previously, the song ranked #1 on Spotify Japan’s Daily Top Songs chart for the chart dated Sept 3, making it the 16th day that it had topped the chart. By so doing, it dethroned ‘Seven’ by Jungkook (feat Latto) as the longest charting song by a Korean/K-pop solo artist at #1 on this chart in history.

‘WHO’ also holds the record as the first and only solo song by a Korean/K-pop solo artist in history to reach #1 on Spotify Japan’s Daily Top Songs chart, a feat that it attained on the chart dated July 28. It was the first time that any song by any Korean/K-pop act was reaching #1 on the said chart this 2024.

On this day, ‘WHO’ recorded 444k streams which also saw him extend his record for a record highest streaming day for any solo song by a K-pop soloist in the chart’s history, a record which he had achieved on the chart dated July 23 after surpassing Jungkook’s ‘Standing Next To You’.

Jimin’s ‘WHO’ also became the first and only foreign song as well as first and only song by a solo artist to top Spotify Japan’s Weekly Top Songs. It had previously peaked at #2 with a record for the highest rank and biggest streaming week for any solo song by a Korean soloist in the history of the chart, a record that it extended with a new peak in weekly streams for this latest chart update.

Turning to Korean charts, Jimin’s ‘WHO’ also surpassed Jungkook’s ‘Standing Next to You’ on the Circle Weekly Global K-pop chart as the longest charting #1 song by a Korean/K-pop solo artist on the said chart, a feat that it achieved on its 6th week on the chart. As of latest chart ranking, the song has now spent 10 consecutive weeks a top the chart (and still counting) to further extend the same record and well as remain the first and only song to spend 10 weeks at #1 on the chart this 2024.

Congratulations Jimin for all the big achievements!
