The star wowed at the Fashion Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall in South Kensington, wearing an archival Valentino dress from the Spring/Summer 1993 collection. The design featured cream-coloured tassels that wrapped around the neck and waist. The dress was carefully calculated and crafted to keep its shape and prevent it from slipping off despite the deep and wide neckline.
Anne Hathaway captured the moment with Giancarlo Giammetti – Valentino’s partner in life and business. On the red carpet, Giammetti told celebrity stylist Law Roach as he ran his hand through the fringe of the dress: “It’s a classic Valentino dress and he designed it based on spaghetti.” Anne Hathaway jokingly added: “And I’ve always dreamed of being spaghetti!”.
At this year’s event, Valentino was honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the industry. Sarah Burton – creative director of Alexander McQueen – was nominated for Designer of the Year.
Gwyneth Paltrow also chose a red Valentino design from the Fall/Winter 1965 Haute Couture collection.
The Fashion Awards were first held in the UK in 1989, with the guest of honor being Princess Diana. At that time, she wore a white pearl-studded dress and a bolero by designer Catherine Walker inspired by Elvis Presley. Princess Diana is considered the one who created the premise for different and interesting fashion looks on the red carpet of this event.
Amal Clooney wears a Versace sequin dress.
Lila Moss wears a lingerie-baring Nancy Dojaka dress, reminiscent of Kate Moss’ famous topless moment in the 1990s.
