Forever begins now,” Selena Gomez captioned an Instagram post late Wednesday night, showing off some new jewelry: An engagement ring from boyfriend Benny Blanco.
The ring in question features a large marquise-cut diamond (it might be said that it could make Tiffany jealous) set on a diamond eternity band. And though neither Gomez nor Blanco has yet confirmed details on the when, where, and how of it all, it would appear that the engagement in question featured delectable bites from Taco Bell.
Selena Gomez is having quite a year, and it’s being capped with an engagement to music producer and songwriter Benny Blanco.
In the second shot of Gomez’s carousel engagement announcement, the Only Murders In the Building star sits on a picnic blanket, beaming and examining her ring. Also sitting on the blanket: Two flat Taco Bell boxes and an open plastic container of food. The cantina has featured in the pair’s romance before, with Gomez even name-dropping it in a November Instagram Story reacting to Blanco’s inclusion in People’s Sexiest Man Alive issue. “Not only do you love me unconditionally… You always get me my Taco Bell Mexican pizza,” she wrote on her account. In interviews related to the honor, Blanco revealed that “For Valentine’s Day, I got her Taco Bell,” and that he had masterminded his own take on the chain’s meat mix so he can cook it for Gomez at home. “I’ve practiced a lot, and I think it’s pretty indistinguishable now if you put them side by side,” the cookbook author said. “There’s so many things you have to do. Part of the meat is kind of blended. It’s disgusting, but it’s delicious. I do it all from scratch.”
Gomez became a Golden Globe double nominee Monday for her roles in “Emilia Pérez” and “Only Murders in the Building.”
In 2020, Gomez started the Rare Impact Fund and her Rare Beauty line of cosmetics, pledging to donate 1% of all sales to the fund to help expand mental health services and education for young people.
Blanco and Gomez worked together on the 2019 song “I Can’t Get Enough,” which also featured J Balvin and Tainy. In 2018, Blanco released his first song — “Eastside” — with Khalid and Halsey, and the trio performed it at the 2018 American Music Awards.
Among the songs he’s credited on as a writer and producer include Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” Kesha’s “Tik Tok,” “Circus” by Britney Spears and Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger.”
