Shohei Ohtani has done something baseball fans have never seen before this past season. He became the first player in the history of the game to have hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases during a single season.
While that is impressive, how Ohtani eclipsed the mark was even more impressive. He did it during a September 19 game against the Miami Marlins, going perfect at the plate.
Ohtani went 6-for-6, hitting three home runs, stealing two bases and driving in 10 runs. According to the league’s social media, the stellar night is being ranked as the top play of the 2024 season.
“One-of-a-kind player, one-of-a-kind season!”
It was one of the most dominant nights at the plate any hitter had at any point this past season. Ohtani finished the regular season with 54 home runs and 59 steals, leading to his third MVP.

Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani was used as the club’s designated hitter this past season. He was recovering from an elbow procedure he had done following the end of the 2023 season.
However, he was seen throwing various bullpens during the 2024 season, getting his arm prepared. To the delight of many fans, Ohtani is expected to return to the mound this upcoming season.
Ohtani’s return to the rotation in 2025 could make this club even scarier. However, there will be no rush to get Ohtani back into the groove on the pitching side of things. The Dodgers have a stacked rotation, especially after signing Blake Snell during the offseason.
Fans are more than excited to see the two-way phenom return to the mound in 2025. It will be interesting to see how he looks and if his batting stats take a hit with the added workload.
