Rory McIlroy revealed his wife, Erica Stoll, was ready to shake up their living situation after they reconciled in 2024.
During season 3 of Netflix’s Full Swing, which premiered on Tuesday, February 25, McIlroy, 35, spoke with Martin Kaymer after competing in the 2024 U.S. Open. At the time, McIlroy said that Stoll, 37, wasn’t a fan of the Florida heat after living there as part of his golf training.
Us Weekly confirmed in May 2024 that the Irish golfer filed for divorce from Stoll after seven years of marriage.
“Rory McIlroy’s communications team confirmed today that a divorce has been filed,” a spokeswoman for McIlroy told the Irish Star that same month. “They stressed Rory’s desire to ensure this difficult time is as respectful and amicable as possible. He will not be making any further comment.”
A source exclusively told Us at the time that Stoll was “lonely in their marriage,” claiming, “Rory was a hard person to be married to.”
Despite their marriage troubles, McIlroy and Stoll rekindled their romance in June 2024. The athlete negated their divorce proceedings by filing a notice of voluntary dismissal and told The Guardian that same month, “We have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
Earlier this month, McIlroy’s marital problems were thrust back into the spotlight when the Full Swing season 3 trailer dropped.
