Chicago Bulls get solid 3-and-D forward in Torrey Craig

The Bulls are bringing in a player who will make an immediate impact.

The Chicago Bulls roster is starting to take shape, and it’s becoming something that could get fans excited. The Bulls recently signed 3-and-D forward Torrey Craig to a two-year deal, with the second being a player option. The 6-foot-7 forward fits nicely with the Bulls, given his propensity for playing solid defense and reliable beyond-the-arc shooting.

Craig is coming off arguably the best season of his seven-year career. He started in 60 of the 79 games he played for the Phoenix Suns and averaged 7.4 points and 5.4 rebounds. While those numbers may not generate a lot of fanfare, Craig did a tremendous job of filling in the gaps for a squad that relied heavily on the playmaking of Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and, later on, Kevin Durant.

How he fits in with the Bulls

Craig will presumably be part of the Bulls’ second unit, giving it a spark with his physical defense and timely shotmaking from deep. The latter may prove very useful for the Bulls, especially since Craig shot an excellent 39 percent from three-point land this past season.

Craig’s ability to play both forward positions will give the Bulls some much-needed lineup flexibility and help them stay competitive when their starters are resting.

Early on, it looks like Craig is getting along very well with his teammates as he offered big man Andre Drummond $500 for the chance to wear jersey no. 3. However, the former All-Star hilariously declined, as seen in this screenshot posted by Craig on his Twitter account.
