The loyalty and courage of a guide dog were put on full display when he sensed danger approaching his blind owner in the form of a school bus.
While crossing the street, Audrey Stone and her service dog, Figo, went unnoticed by the school bus driver. Fortunately, Figo acted quickly and threw himself towards the bus to shield his owner.
As reported by USA Today, Chief of Police John Del Gardo of Brewster expressed his admiration for Figo, stating that the dog bravely took much of the impact and refused to abandon his owner’s side. Figo remained steadfast, serving as her protector and savior.
Stone was attended by a group of fifteen EMTs after she suffered multiple injuries, which included a fractured right elbow, ankle, and three broken ribs. Despite the commotion, Figo, Stone’s beloved companion, remained steadfastly beside her, while Stone continuously called out for his comforting presence.
When Figo suffered a severe cut on his right leg, the emergency medical technicians promptly bandaged it up. Despite being in pain, Figo managed to keep his composure and did not whine or bark during the commotion.
Since Figo wasn’t able to ride with Stone in the ambulance, he was instead transported in the Brewster Fire Department truck to receive veterinary care.
Figo and Stone are currently recuperating from their surgeries at the hospital. It’s admirable to see such a selfless and courageous dog like Figo. Spread the word about his heroic act with your loved ones!b
