Man Utd liquidated Fred and finished the World Cup superstar as a replacement.

After Manchester United closed the Andre Onana deal, there were ruмors that they would approach Sofyan Amrabat to continue reinforcing the quality of the midfield.

The 26-year-old star emerged after an impressive performance at the 2022 World Cup in the Morocco national team shirt. He is known for his strong playstyle and ability to read situations quickly. For that reason, coach Erik Ten Hag wants to reunite his old student.

According to the latest updates from journalist Fabrizio Romano, although Man Utd is interested in this goal, their top priority is still to bring in a new striker to Old Trafford. Specifically sharing on his personal Twitter, he said:

“Manchester Utd have Sofyan Amrabat in their sights as rҽvealed in June. But there is no word that a deal is close.

No formal offers have been submitted yet as the deal won’t be closed this week. Their priority rҽmains the new striker – then the squad purge, which can confirm once again that Fred is leaving. …after that, Man Utd will consider buying a new midfielder.”

Manchester United has made some good signings this summer – and Erik Ten Hag’s squad could be about to get even stronger

United are currently looking to finalize the signing of Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund but could then move on to bolster their midfield options.

Amrabat, 26, played a key role in the Moroccan team that made history last year by becoming the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup. According to La Nazione (via Football365), only a difference in valuation will prevent United from getting their man.

The report adds that the 13-time Premier League champions will have to raise their offer by €3–5m to strike a deal – and they are believed to be the only club ‘seriously interested’ in Amrabat, who is valued at €30m (£25.9m) by Transfermarkt. According to La Nazione (via Football365), only a difference in valuation will prevent United from getting their man.

United’s 2023/24 squad is slowly taking shape thanks to some impressive business run, as they prepare for a Champions League return next season.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana became their second signing of the current transfer window last week, with a £47.2m move from Inter Milan.

Onana’s arrival follows Mason Mount, who joined from Chelsea for an initial £55m earlier this month.
