He is expected to reprise his character in a sequel to the 2005 film. However, with the MCU taking the top spot in the superhero genre, fans have been looking forward to the Constantine star to join the MCU as well.

They have come up with several characters who would be a perfect fit for the actor, including Ghost Rider, Dr. Doom, and Silver Surfer. However, Reeves has been looking forward to playing another character, who is set to make his MCU debut in the Deadpool threequel.

Answering a fan’s query if there is any character he regrets turning down, he said, “…No…but I did always want to play Wolverine.” The iconic Marvel character has been portrayed by the Australian actor Hugh Jackman since the 2000 film X-Men. Followed by a brief break from the character, he is set to reprise his role in Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool 3.
Fans even suggested that the actor should have a cameo alongside Jackman’s Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool threequel, and others asked the studio to officially cast Reeves in the role. However, the John Wick star believes that it’s too late for him to portray the character in the MCU.

Considering his growing popularity, Claremont and Frank Miller worked on a four-part solo issue for Wolverine in 1982. And The Matrix star has shared that he wanted to portray this version of the Marvel superhero. During his conversation with Andy Cohen and Alex Winter, Keanu Reeves shared that he always wanted to play Wolverine.

“Oh yeah. Frank Miller‘s Wolverine? For sure,” he said. He spoke highly of the comic book writer and shared that his work has had a huge impact on The Dark Knight series and Wolverine as well. “I always wanted to play Wolverine. I missed that one. They got a great Wolverine,” he shared.
Alex Winter chimed in on his comment, saying that it’s still not too late for him to be the next Wolverine. However, the 58-year-old actor said that he could not play the character anymore. “It is too late. I’m good with it now,” he said during the interview.
