Kevin Durant is described by former teammate Stephen Curry as “most misunderstood dude in the freaking league right there.”

Stephen Curry has had many memorable nights in his storied career and one of the more memorable ones was when he broke Ray Allen’s all-time NBA three-point record in 2021.

Curry had a celebration dinner to mark the occasion and a surprise guest showed up to the party, Kevin Durant. In the recently released “Stephen Curry: Underrated” documentary, you see a great exchange between the former teammates and after it, Curry claimed Durant is the most misunderstood player in the NBA.

Stephen Curry: “Get the f*** out of here, bro. Sorry for my language, Mama. I’m so sorry.”

Kevin Durant: “I had to come over here and say what’s up. I love you, brother.”

Stephen Curry: “I love you, too dawg. Remember the time you thought I was a little white kid? I think about that s*** all the time.”

Kevin Durant: “Well, who knew this s*** ten years ago? Now you that guy. Embrace that s***. Good luck brother.”

Stephen Curry: “I love that dude, man. He’s the most misunderstood dude in the freaking league right there.”

Curry had actually stated something similar last year. He had said that Durant is misunderstood and that some things happened in his life that hurt his ability to trust people around him. We aren’t likely to ever find out what that was, but Curry understands why KD is wired a bit differently and still loves him.

A lot has been said about their relationship, but we have seen them give each other a lot of love and respect over the years. They were teammates for just three seasons from 2016-17 to 2018-19, but they were three very special ones. The two of them led the Golden State Warriors to two championships and had KD, who averaged 25.8 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 5.4 APG, 0.8 SPG, and 1.5 BPG as a Warrior, not gotten injured in the 2019 Finals, they’d have three-peated.

Kevin Durant Claimed Fans Have Been Brainwashed

Durant for one, certainly feels he is very misunderstood. When a fan on Twitter stated that he left the Warriors because his ego got in the way, KD claimed he is the most egoless and coachable player in the league. He also added that fans have been brainwashed.

Amar’e Stoudemire who was an assistant with the Brooklyn Nets when KD was with the team, called him an egoless player too, so there is certainly some truth to it. Durant has also gotten along well with all of his coaches except Steve Nash and his style of play does make life a lot easier for coaches, as he can play in any system.
